Why don't we have personal accounts with HMRC where we have a shopping cart and distribute how our tax contributions are being spent? For example, I log in and I see 15 of the most prominent goverment policies or goals. I click on it and then a subsection opens that lists 15 or 30 of those subtasks. Why can't I allocate a certain proportion of my tax to fund those things - but - I can't allocate it to fund everything. No shortcuts. A real world example is the support of war. If I was a politician and had to support this I would add a subsection and whoever clicks 'Add' I would start sending them newsletters containing gore as a punishment and as a way to raise awareness that war is so extremely cruel and violent that it cannot be talked in just purely by statistics and losses in numbers. I'm very sure that many of the supporters of war would rush to their toilets and vomit if they knew what they are supporting. Likewise, if somebody funds some nice railway transportation projects. I would send them drone footages of progress, make cool ortho-time series videos, maybe even numbers and the most notable milestones and show off small achievments (like doing this particular thing creatively that may or may not be a good idea in the future but if it works it's going to be a decent spin on how things were done). Maybe also about problems that invite others to problem solve. There can be a psychological aspect to choosing a passive, non-engaged role in social interactions. Some individuals, particularly in contemporary cultures, may find comfort in avoiding conflict, high-stakes emotional interactions, or complex social dynamics. By adhering to predictable routines and roles, they maintain control over their social life and avoid discomfort. Desire for Stability: For some, the passive role of driving children around, running errands, and focusing on practical consumption provides stability and predictability in a world that can feel chaotic or overwhelming. These routines can provide a sense of control, helping individuals avoid the unpredictability or emotional complexity of more active forms of social engagement. some people seem to be almost hypochondriac about being trash when in my opinion it's a very fulfilling activity that is way much better than idling in life. my personal choice is to be trash until I can see a new direction or reinvent myself. but I really want to understand how being overly passive and surface level could benefit me?
