Is it not better for animals to live under human presence and protection? How would chickens or cows fare in the wild? I personally think it's way much more cruel when a group of predators or hyenas pick off the weak and slow ones and devour them while they're still alive. I saw a video of a chimp that started feeding on a still alive calf and bashing it to the ground after every bite. I also saw a video of Komodo dragons devouring a deer and instantenously swallowing it's unborn calf.

I feel like it's way so much better for certain animals to live under nice conditions where they are looked after by both humans and other animals. Once they get sickly and old they die an instantenous death and are given back to nature through human consumption. There's such things as roadkill venison for lunch. What life would you prefer if the roles were reversed? Would you not prefer to live in a homestead and play with dogs and the rest of your crowd, feeding on fresh grass and fruits and vegetables? Some animals are incredibly friendly among humans and they enjoy their presence.

That's the main reason I'm not a vegan but I have tried several vegan foods that are just as good as their meatly alternatives. We used to need choline to function. I also think it's unethical to mass-slaughter animals but I also make a difference based on how intelligent they are. For example, I think it's unethical to eat and keep octopus captive while I'm unsure about fish. I tried to imagine myself living the life of a fish with no legs, arms and very short attention spans. I am not sure if living the life of a fish is pure torture or if it's pleasant. If their experience is awful then there could be good reasons to fish and to eat them. I do not know how fish feel so I'll leave this debate to the ones who would know.

I'm pretty sure the most ethical choice is to not kill or eat anything and if we could then we would use something like artificially grown proteins. From where I've come from I had to eat and drink to live. I made the choice of reducing my meat consumption to the bare minimum. I would have consumed meat or eggs/fish as soon as I noticed that I've had brain-fog often pushing the boundaries. Excercise also required me to get as much protein in as I could.
